The recruitment competition for 6,000 teachers in Guinea's civil service began on Saturday 17 October 2026, with 39,266 candidates shortlisted, according to reports from Guinéenews and Mosaiqueguinee. The first tests are being held in seven administrative regions in the interior of the country.

Minister of Modernisation of Administration and the Civil Service, Faya François Bourouno, launched the process at Cabral high school in Mamou. He presented the recruitment as a response to the shortage of teachers observed in schools after the start of the school year.

Candidates applied for schools and teaching levels identified in advance, the minister said, as cited by Guinéenews. Those admitted must be posted directly to these posts after the signing of their appointment order. Holding the tests in the interior also aims to limit candidates' travel to Conakry.

The announced system provides for the use of secure documents and optical mark reading to process results, according to the minister's explanations. The tests cover, depending on profiles, general knowledge, pedagogy, didactics and specialist subjects, Mosaiqueguinee reports.

The ministry had opened registration on 21 September and set its close for 11 October, through the national competitions portal. The 6,000 posts are intended for the ministry in charge of National Education, Literacy, Technical Education and Vocational Training, according to the initial announcement.
