This policy explains which data b-economik collects, why, how long it is kept, and how to exercise your rights. It applies to the website https://b-economik.com, to briefings, and to newsletters.

Data controller

Bénin Web TV, publisher of b-economik, Cotonou, Benin. For any question about your data: contact page.

Reading the site without an account

You can read b-economik without creating an account and without accepting an audience-measurement cookie. In that case, we only collect:

  • the server technical logs (IP address, requested page, date), kept for the security and proper functioning of the site;
  • anonymous measurements of page display speed (page type, device type, loading time), without cookies or identifiers;
  • an anonymous count of pages read (page, day, general source such as "search engine" or "social networks", device type, time spent and whether an article was read to the end), aggregated by day, without cookies, without IP address or identifier, and which does not allow a reader to be tracked from one page to another.

Cookies and storage in your browser

  • Your choice regarding cookies (beco_consent): stores your consent or refusal for six months.
  • Audience measurement (Google Analytics): set only if you accept it. It tells us which pages are read, without identifying readers.
  • Advertising (Google Ad Manager): advertising slots only load after your consent.
  • Account session (beco_session, beco_connecte) : set only if you sign in, to keep you signed in for 90 days.
  • Reading preferences : the data-saving mode and the reading position of an article are stored only in your browser; they are never sent to us.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page.

Your reader account

If you create an account, we keep your email address, the display name you choose, the articles you save and the topics you follow. If you sign in with Google, we receive from Google your address, your name and an account identifier; no password is ever stored.

From the "My account" page, you can at any time download your account data or delete your account. Account data is then deleted; invoices already issued are kept for the legal period.

Briefing and newsletters

Your email address is used to send you the free morning briefing and, if you choose, the newsletters for the selected sections. These mailings only start after your registration is confirmed by email. Each newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. The mailing provider is Brevo.

If you have an active subscription, the premium briefing is accessible from your account. You may choose to also receive its daily digest by email and stop this mailing at any time in your reader space. Only current subscribers who have activated this option receive this email.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data or transfer it to any third party. It is only shared with the technical providers necessary for the service (site hosting and protection, email sending, audience measurement and advertising if you accept them), within the limits of what is necessary.

Retention periods

  • Reader account: for as long as the account exists; deleted immediately upon your request.
  • Sign-in links sent by email: valid for 20 minutes, deleted after 24 hours.
  • Registration for the free briefing and thematic newsletters: until you unsubscribe.
  • Premium email choice: until it is deactivated or the account is deleted; no mailings when the subscription has expired.
  • Technical logs: 12 months at most.

Your rights

In accordance with the Digital Code of the Republic of Benin, you have a right of access, rectification, objection and deletion of your data. You can exercise them from your account or by the contact page. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority (APDP) of Benin.

Subscription and payment

If you subscribe, we record your email address, the plan you choose, the amount, the dates and the transaction reference, in order to provide the subscription and keep accounts. Payment is processed by FedaPay: we never receive your payment details (card number, Mobile Money code). Invoices are kept for the legally required period, including after your account is deleted. The free-article counter is kept in your browser (local storage) and is not transmitted to the site.
