This page explains how b-economik collects, verifies and presents the information and data published on the site.
Our Sources
We favor primary sources:
- regional institutions: BCEAO, UEMOA Commission, BRVM, Financial Market Authority of the UMOA;
- governments, ministries and national statistics institutes;
- international institutions: IMF, World Bank, African Development Bank;
- documents published by companies: financial statements, annual reports, press releases;
- interviews and reports produced by our journalists.
When information comes from another media outlet or an agency, we say so.
Figures and Market Data
- Each value displayed (price, index, indicator) indicates its source and date.
- BRVM prices are closing prices, updated after each trading session. Data whose reliability is not assured is not displayed.
- Amounts are expressed in their original currency, most often in CFA francs (XOF); conversions specify the rate and its date.
- Variations are calculated relative to the previous period indicated.
Charts
Our charts indicate their source, unit and period. Axes start at zero when the reading requires it, and any break in scale is flagged.
Company, Country and Sector Profiles
Profiles gather reference information and the articles that cite each company, country or sector. Their texts are written and validated by the editorial team; the figures reproduce official publications.
Tools and Calculators
Credit and savings simulators apply standard financial formulas to the parameters you enter. The converter uses dated reference rates. These results are indicative.
Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence tools help the editorial team propose the summary « L'essentiel », identify cited entities and suggest links. These suggestions are published only after human validation (see the editorial charter).
