The BCEAO published its list of approved payment institutions in the West African Monetary Union on 8 October, as at 31 August 2026. It includes 34 institutions, with their names, registration numbers and approval dates.

Uneven distribution across the eight countries

Senegal has eleven and Côte d'Ivoire ten. Benin follows with four, then Togo with three. Burkina Faso and Mali have two each, and Guinea-Bissau and Niger one each.

The first two markets therefore account for almost 62% of the institutions on this list, by our calculation. This is a count of institutions: the percentage does not describe their share of transactions or their business volumes.

Four names to check in Benin

The Benin section lists Julaya Bénin, Open SI, FedaPay Bénin and QOS Integrated Center Bénin. The document makes it possible to match a brand or service precisely with the name of the legal entity holding the approval.

For a business choosing a payment or collection provider, this check complements the review of fees, settlement times and complaint procedures. A trading name alone may not be enough to identify the counterparty; the official name and registration number offer a more precise point of verification.

The list is fixed as at a given date. A reader consulting a provider after that date should also look for later updates from the BCEAO. This regulatory reference fits into the development of digital payments, to which changes in mobile money and PI-SPI also contribute.
