Bloomfield Investment maintains the long-term local-currency rating of Bank of Africa Senegal at A, with a stable outlook. The factsheet published by the BRVM covers the period from July 2026 to June 2027. The short-term rating remains A1-, also with a stable outlook.
Resource mobilisation among the positives
The agency notes improved resource mobilisation and profitable operations. In its financial information, amounts due to customers rise from FCFA 585.770 billion in 2024 to 686.927 billion in 2025. Net profit rises from 19.984 billion to 21.905 billion.
By our calculation, the customer resources presented rise by about 17.3%, while profit increases by 9.6%. These are two distinct rates: the growth of a balance-sheet resource and that of an annual result do not measure the same activity.
A credit assessment on a defined scale
Among the weaknesses, Bloomfield cites portfolio quality and the position of public finances. The analysis thus covers the bank's lending capacity within its economic environment.
The rating is expressed on a local-currency scale. To compare several ratings, the same scale and the same risk category must be kept. A credit rating is also read differently from a financial result or a share price: it is an agency's dated assessment, accompanied by an outlook.
The next reading of the accounts will allow the activity trends to be compared with the factors cited in this assessment. The 30 June 2027 date given in the factsheet is its deadline, rather than a guarantee that the bank's results will remain stable until then.
