The banking group Oragroup posted a consolidated net profit of 18.548 billion FCFA in the first half of 2026, up 1% year on year, according to its activity report published on Monday, 12 October, by the Regional Securities Exchange.

Pre-tax income rose 7% to 24.711 billion FCFA, compared with 23.088 billion a year earlier. However, this improvement comes alongside a 1% decline in net banking income to 98.611 billion FCFA and a 3% drop in gross operating income to 25.348 billion.

The main support comes from net cost of risk, which was reduced to 748 million FCFA from 3.696 billion in the first half of 2025, a decrease of close to 80%. Oragroup attributes this change to the intensification of recovery efforts. Profit thus rose despite the slight contraction in banking revenue.

Customer deposits reach 3,409.776 billion FCFA at 30 June, up 10% from end-December 2025. The portfolio of bonds and securities rises 8% to 1,583.636 billion FCFA, while net customer loans fall 3% to 1,475.504 billion.

Total assets stand at 4,134.434 billion FCFA, a rise of 3% over six months. General operating expenses remain virtually stable at 73.262 billion FCFA. These figures show that deposit mobilisation and securities investments grew more than the net financing extended to customers over the period.

For the second half, management plans to consolidate resource mobilisation and interest income from the securities portfolio. It also says it intends to continue controlling costs, recovering debts, managing risks and pursuing initiatives to strengthen its capital base.

Oragroup, based in Lomé and listed on the BRVM under the symbol ORGT, operates the Orabank network in twelve countries in West and Central Africa. The group had returned to profitability in 2025 after a loss in 2024, according to its earlier financial publications.
