The Banque de développement des États de l'Afrique centrale (BDEAC) announced on Wednesday, October 14, that it had completed the previous day its first international bond issue, for 222 million dollars, to diversify the resources devoted to CEMAC projects.

The loan matures in October 2029. The bank indicates an annual euro coupon of 7.88% after the simultaneous setting up of a currency hedge between the euro and the dollar. This rate therefore corresponds to the terms announced after hedging.

Africa Finance Corporation is participating in the transaction as an anchor investor, alongside other investors. According to the BDEAC, the resources represent nearly 15% of its balance sheet and should accelerate disbursements for infrastructure, agriculture, agro-industry and industry.

The bank finances projects in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. This issue is part of its strategic plan 2023-2027, which provides for diversifying sources of funding.

New commitments to creditors include half-yearly investor conferences and the publication, at the same frequency, of a presentation on the loan portfolio, liquidity, funding and shareholder support.

On October 13, the BDEAC also signed with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa a separate loan agreement for 30 million euros. This financing is intended to support the private sector and small and medium-sized enterprises in the subregion.
