Tunisian battery manufacturer ASSAD recorded a 20.2% fall in revenue over the first nine months of 2026, to 63.96 million dinars, according to its activity indicators published on Friday 16 October. The decline in exports weighed on revenue and was accompanied by a fall in production.

Overseas sales fell to 21.37 million dinars from 37.81 million a year earlier, a decline of 43.5%. The company attributes the fall mainly to regulatory constraints that affected imports by its Algerian subsidiary BAA. The Tunisian market, for its part, generated 42.59 million dinars, a slight rise of 0.6%.

Cumulative production came to 404,740 units in standard battery equivalent, compared with 593,314 between January and September 2025, a contraction of 31.8%. In the third quarter alone, revenue reached 22.81 million dinars, compared with 28.82 million over the same period of 2025.

ASSAD nevertheless says it maintained a gross margin above 40% over nine months. Its indicators are provisional and have been neither audited nor subject to a limited review by the statutory auditors.

Total indebtedness stood at 71.68 million dinars at the end of September, down 3% year on year. Operating credit facilities, however, rose 5.2% to 62.46 million dinars. According to the company, they were used to build up stocks in advance to meet the demand and activity expected in the fourth quarter.
