The Regional Securities Exchange ended Friday 23 October with a 1.37% rebound, taking its Composite index to 529.14 points as Sonatel rose 4.40% to CFAF 43,850.

The Senegalese operator accounted for CFAF 1.55 billion, or 55.84% of the CFAF 2.78 billion traded across the market, according to Sika Finance. Its market capitalisation increased by CFAF 185 billion during the session. This change measures the group’s stock-market value and is not capital raised by the company.

The two other main indices also advanced. The BRVM 30 gained 1.38% to 256.35 points and the BRVM Prestige rose 1.60% to 196.59 points, according to official data. Total equity market capitalisation reached CFAF 20.750 trillion.

Twenty-one companies advanced, 18 declined and nine were unchanged, with 46 stocks actually traded. Unilever Côte d’Ivoire posted the best performance at 7.47%, ahead of SODECI at 6.03% and SAPH at 4.99%. Nestlé Côte d’Ivoire recorded the steepest fall at 4.34%.

The session was the last before the Sonatel stock split scheduled for Monday 26 October. Each old share is to be replaced by ten new shares, with a mechanical adjustment to the reference price and no change in the total value held by shareholders.
