Vietnam’s FPT plans to raise its headcount in Egypt to around 200 employees over the first two years, it announced on Wednesday 14 October at the opening of its new IT services centre in Cairo.
The office was opened on 13 October, the Vietnamese news agency VNA reported. FPT Egypt had begun operations in January 2026 and currently employs about sixty local staff, according to the agency. The new goal therefore concerns expanding a team that is already in place.
Based in Cairo Festival City, the centre is to provide services to the group’s clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. FPT cites the proximity of European time zones and access to Egyptian IT skills as the main reasons for setting up there.
Egyptian teams already work for clients in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, according to the daily Al Masry Al Youm, which cites the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
The group plans in particular to offer artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing and management software services. It intends to serve, among others, banking, automotive, energy and logistics companies.
This establishment follows a memorandum of understanding signed with ITIDA in November 2025, the Egyptian daily reports. In the longer term, FPT says it aims for a workforce of more than 500 engineers in Egypt, without setting a deadline in its statement of 14 October.
