CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM group, now holds 49% of the share capital and voting rights of Nador Container Terminal, the company responsible for the West container terminal at Nador West Med, Morocco, Marsa Maroc announced on Thursday 15 October. The Moroccan operator retains the remaining 51%.

The equity entry was completed after the competent authorities granted their approvals, Marsa Maroc said in its statement. The terminal is still scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

The two partners had signed their agreement in October 2025. CMA CGM said at the time that the creation of the joint venture remained subject to the necessary approvals. The announcement of 15 October concerns the completion of this equity transaction.

The terminal is to have 900 metres of quay, a draught of 18 metres and 37.5 hectares of reclaimed land. Its capacity at full build-out is announced at 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units, or TEU, the unit used to compare container volumes of different sizes. The port is located in Betoya Bay, near the Strait of Gibraltar.

In its presentation, Marsa Maroc states that CMA Terminals operates or is developing 66 assets worldwide. According to the same statement, this network handled around 52 million TEU in 2025.
