BIIC and Bank of Africa Bénin are included in the composition of the BRVM 30 applicable from 1 October 2026. Notice No. 289 of the Regional Securities Exchange lists the thirty companies selected for this index.
A regional group of listed securities
The list includes, among others, Sonatel, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Coris Bank International Burkina Faso and several Bank of Africa subsidiaries, as well as Ivorian companies in industry, distribution and services. For the two Beninese banks, their presence gives readers another market reference point, in addition to their share prices and accounts.
The notice publishes a composition as of a specific date. To establish that a security has entered or left the index, this list must be compared with that of the previous period. The mere presence of a name in the new notice is not enough to qualify its inclusion as a novelty.
Composition and performance answer two different questions
The composition shows which securities take part in the index. Performance shows how the level of the index moves. A movement in the BRVM 30 and that of a share it comprises can therefore diverge: the index synthesises several stocks.
To follow a bank such as BIIC, three readings are complementary. Financial results show its activity, the share price reflects trading in its shares, and the index composition places the share within a group of securities. Confusing these three pieces of information would give index membership a significance it does not have, particularly regarding the company's profit or dividend.
