Brega Oil Marketing Company laid the foundation stone on Wednesday, 14 October, for a fuel depot in Tajoura, Libya, in partnership with OLA Energy, the national oil company NOC announced. The project aims to strengthen storage and supply to the local market.
The specifications presented by Brega and reported by Libya Herald provide for tanks with a total capacity of 226,300 cubic metres. They are to hold petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and cooking gas. These are projected capacities for the future depot.
The setup also includes a truck loading platform able to handle 1,000 cubic metres per hour and a gas cylinder filling unit capable of reaching 1,200 cylinders per hour, according to the same specifications.
NOC states that the partnership with OLA Energy is based on the build, operate and transfer model, known by the English acronym BOT. The project has received approval and is part of Brega's 2025-2029 development plan.
The national company expects these facilities to bring greater flexibility in stock management and better distribution. The technical programme reported by Libya Herald also includes two offshore unloading points, onshore and subsea pipelines, and safety and firefighting equipment.
