Banque du Caire announced on Sunday 11 October its intention to offer 30% of its capital on the Egyptian stock exchange, a transaction that should allow its state-owned shareholder Banque Misr to sell part of its stake. Trading is expected to begin in November 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

The offering would cover 4.575 billion ordinary shares already issued, according to the bank's statement reported by the Egyptian press. It is therefore a sale of shares held by Banque Misr, not a capital increase that would directly bring new funds to Banque du Caire.

Two components are planned to broaden the shareholder base. A private placement targets institutional and qualified investors in Egypt and certain international markets, while a public offering is to be open to retail investors on the Egyptian market. Subscription is expected at the end of October, before listing.

The timetable depends in particular on the green light from the Financial Regulatory Authority and the Egyptian Exchange. The final offering price was not announced in the information made public on 11 October. CI Capital and EFG Hermes are advising on the preparation and placement of the transaction.

The bank is taking this step after a rise in its half-year results. In its standalone accounts, it reports net profit of 8.6 billion Egyptian pounds in the first half of 2026, up 15% year on year. Operating income reached 22.1 billion Egyptian pounds, an increase of 9%.

These figures concern the bank alone. At the end of June, this same accounting scope shows about 552 billion Egyptian pounds in assets, 440 billion in customer deposits and 280 billion in gross loans. Its capital adequacy ratio stands at 22.1%.
