ASKY Airlines and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced on 5 October 2026 a three-year partnership to expand refugees' access to training, employment and entrepreneurship. The first phase covers six countries: Benin, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.
The agreement brings together the company's regional network, based in Lomé, and UNHCR's schemes. It targets technical and vocational training, scholarships, internships and pathways to employment in the air transport sector.
ASKY will consider integrating qualified refugees into its existing programmes and recruitment processes, depending on available opportunities and usual criteria. The agreement therefore sets up a framework for access to the company's opportunities; it does not constitute a general recruitment already open in the six countries.
The partners envisage in particular possibilities of connecting with markets in Senegal and access to livelihoods in Ghana. Lomé could host a training hub. These avenues are to be deployed according to needs and the conditions specific to the countries concerned.
Particular attention to women
Refugee women and girls will receive specific support, with mentoring and professional development opportunities linked to aviation. This priority responds to the additional obstacles they face in accessing training and work.
UNHCR counted more than four million refugees and asylum seekers in West and Central Africa in September 2026. The economic interest of the partnership is to connect the skills of these populations with the needs of businesses present in the region, while developing their autonomy. Timetables and terms of the opportunities should be followed with the partners.
