Angola and Namibia signed an agreement on Monday, 19 October, in Luanda to establish a single-stop border post at the Oshikango and Santa Clara crossing, according to the Angolan presidency. The text covers the creation and implementation of this arrangement.
This type of arrangement aims to facilitate the movement of goods by coordinating border agencies. The World Customs Organization cites, among the means of such cooperation, joint controls, shared facilities and harmonised procedures.
The agreement is one of eight legal instruments signed on the occasion of the first session of the Angola-Namibia binational commission, in the presence of Angolan President João Lourenço and his Namibian counterpart Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is on a state visit.
The two countries also signed cooperation texts on fisheries, aquaculture and tourism. The Namibian president asked their ministers to ensure the implementation of the agreements concluded.
