Galiano Gold announced on 8 October 2026 that it had obtained in Ghana the extension of two mining permits essential to operations at Asanko. The Abirem permit is extended by fifteen years, to 2041, while the Miradani permit is extended by seventeen years, to 2043, according to the statement the company filed with the US securities regulator.

These authorisations cover the Nkran, Adubiaso and Miradani North deposits. They also concern the processing plant, with a capacity of 5.8 million tonnes of ore a year, and the associated infrastructure. The third mining phase at Nkran, designated Nkran Cut 3, is among the key components of the mining plan covered by these extensions.

Chief Executive Matt Badylak said the permit extensions facilitate implementation of the operating plan and support the outlook for reserve growth. The extensions concern the duration of the permits. The company did not announce on this occasion any increase in its production targets.

Galiano holds 90% of the Asanko mine. In its results published on 6 August, the group said it had produced 69,138 ounces of gold in the first half of 2026, including 34,391 ounces in the second quarter. It then maintained an annual forecast of between 140,000 and 160,000 ounces.

Work at Nkran was already drawing significant spending. For the first six months of 2026, Galiano had booked 35.6 million dollars of preparatory stripping work at Nkran Cut 3, of which 22.1 million dollars was in the second quarter. The work involves removing waste rock to access the ore.
