Fifteen African oil, gas and power projects seeking more than 16 billion dollars in financing were presented on Monday, 12 October, in Cape Town, at the opening of African Energy Week 2026.
The portfolio brings together operations at very different stages. Promoters are seeking development capital, equity stakes, acquisition financing and debt for infrastructure construction. The announced sum therefore corresponds to needs presented to investors, not to commitments already secured.
Proposals include an integrated energy company in southern Africa seeking 200 million dollars in exchange for a minority stake, as well as heavy oil projects, offshore discoveries and exploration assets requiring new financial partners.
The portfolio also includes financing for the acquisition of a producing oil block in West Africa, a 55 million dollar extension of a liquefied petroleum gas import terminal in southern Africa, and a 250 million euro financing package for a 180-megawatt gas-fired power plant in West Africa.
Another promoter is seeking 5 million dollars to advance studies for a 200 million dollar project combining gas supply, dedicated power generation and a data centre for artificial intelligence in southern Africa. The larger financing would only be sought after pre-feasibility studies.
The projects were presented by Rene Awambeng, managing partner of Premier Invest, during the Deal Room session. The platform connects promoters, lenders and investors, but does not guarantee the closing of transactions or their implementation timetable. Their progression to execution will still depend on technical studies, authorisations, commercial agreements and financing conditions.
